DIMAPUR — The second edition of Lt. Col. Robert TA Memorial Badminton Tournament, organised by the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army, kicked off on Nov. 13 at Rikhumai Indoor Badminton Hall, Senapati, Manipur.
The tournament, conducted to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Lt Col Robert, was jointly inaugurated by Chingpal Rangnamel, wife of late Robert, and commander of Senapati Brigade, a defence release stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]A total of 110 men and 20 women are participating in the tournament, divided into 11 categories.
“Lt Col Robert TA was the first officer from Maram Naga community to get commissioned as an officer in the Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army in 2004. Lt Col Robert laid down his life in the highest traditions of Indian Army while leading a snow clearance expedition team in treacherous and challenging mountains of North Sikkim on 14 May 2020,” the release stated.
