Kohima, Sep. 20 (EMN): The anti-graft agency Lokayukta is being set up in Nagaland even as the state’s government also awaits a response from the Gauhati High Court’s registrar to recommend a list of members who would form the panel. The state-constituted search committee for Lokayukta is pursuing the matter, the government said in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, also the minister in-charge of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR), said in reply to a starred question on Thursday that the P&AR has constituted a search committee for appointment to the Lokayukta. This was stated in a memorandum dated July 11 2018.
The committee decided to write to the registrar of Gauhati High Court to suggest names to form the panel for further discussion with the chief justice of Gauhati High Court, speaker and the Leader of Opposition, in accordance with provisions of the Act.
Rio said that the department had written to the registrar general of Gauhati High Court and the advocate general of Nagaland in August. Their reply is being awaited, he added.
