KOHIMA — The Kidima Youth Organisation (KYO) hosted its sports meet on January 3 and the 4th, featuring competitive events in men's football and both men's and women's volleyball, on the theme ‘Towards a better Ura.’
In the men's football arena, Virhatso Khathitso Society clinched the championship title, with Puchotso Kintso Club securing the runners-up position.
The accolades for the best player were bestowed upon Zadutol Phinyo of Virhatso Khathitso Society, while the highest scorer award was jointly claimed by Dupisa Pucho (Puchotso Kintso Club) and Viposa Phinyo (Virhatso Khathitso Society).
Moving to men's volleyball, Makromi Cultural Society emerged victorious, leaving Virhatso Khathitso Society in the runner-up spot.
Tepevisa Rikha and Kethovi Rikha, both from Makromi Cultural Society, earned the best setter and best spiker recognition, respectively.
The women's volleyball category witnessed Puchotso Kintso Club seizing the championship title, with Makromi Cultural Society securing the runner-up position.
Representing Puchotso Kintso Club, Visayonu Kintso and Nokethonu Kintso received best setter and best spiker awards respectively.
Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, President of the Kohima District Football Association, gracing the event, encouraged players to choose a single event and pursue professionalism in that specific game.
Yhome emphasised the detrimental effects of using intoxicating substances on a player's career and life.
Stressing the significance of God's grace, he urged players to seek divine guidance and underscored the importance of respecting parents who play a pivotal role in nurturing and supporting their children.
Yhome exemplified this principle by bringing his father to the sports meet, setting an example for all players to follow.
