DIMAPUR — The Kohima Village Council (KVC) and the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) have strongly condemned the fatal assault on Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, Political Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, by two individuals from their village.

The victim died in a hospital in Kohima on Sunday, hours after being physically assaulted by two persons identified as Neizosietuo Kire and Khrietsonyu Whuorhie, on the previous day over a traffic-related argument.

Describing the act as “inhuman”, the KVC called for the law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and deliver exemplary punishment to the accused. It also expressed deepest sympathy and condolences to Miasalhou's family.

The KVYO, in a separate statement, denounced the “appalling physical assault” on Miasalhou and his son, noting that the attackers left Miasalhou unconscious, leading to his death. Assuring its assistance in bringing justice to the victim and his family, it appealed to the law enforcement agencies for a swift investigation.

The KVYO also conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family.
