KOHIMA — Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KICSE) Kohima, clinched the first Nagaland Open Women Football League-cum-Knockout Tournament 2023 title, after defeating Peren District Women FC 6-0 in the final match held here at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Saturday.
KISCE received INR 1 lakh along with trophy and certificates while runner-up PDW FC went home with INR 70,000 along with trophy and certificates.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Imlimerenla scored the first goal in the first minute of the play while Akhala scored the second goal in the 9th minute. Chimmushe and Neke chipped in with a goal each in the 20th and 26th minutes, respectively. Akhala and Neke completed their braces in the 42nd minute and 57th minutes.
The semi-finalists - Football Association of Phek District (third position), Hilly Girls FC (fourth position) received INR 30,000 each, while Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association-C (fifth place) received INR 10,000 along with certificates.
Best goal keeper went to Nyitsarho Nyusou of FAPD. Most promising player was bagged by Mhalo P Mozhui of KISCE while top scorer title went to Neke K of KICSE. The player of the tournament went to Chimmushe of KICSE. The individual title holders received INR 5000 each along with certificates.
Earlier, addressing the closing programme, Advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimkhiung said that the state government is keen to explore and make use of the talented youths by providing avenues through government support in every possible means. Saying that nothing can take away their goals, dreams or destiny unless they give up themselves, he urged the sportspersons to follow their dreams along with dedication, sincerity and honesty to achieve their goals.
