KOHIMA — The Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) on Saturday conducted a referee clinic at Mezhür Higher Secondary School (MHSS) basketball court, Kohima.
The course was conducted by Salew Kadate, MBA in sports management, HITS Chennai, NSNIS, Patiala (diploma in short coaching), certified coach, who is one of the only two certified basketball referee coaches in Nagaland.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The organisers said the event, which witnessed participations from various districts, was conducted to improve the current standards of refereeing and enhance knowledge about the intricacies of basketball in the state as a whole.
Meanwhile, founding member and president of KDBA, Vimhalie Pienyü, in his address during the inaugural session, welcomed the participants and stressed on the need for modern refereeing in the state to let the sport progress.
Observing that there are many basketball enthusiasts in the state, he underscored the urgent need of improvisation of infrastructure and proper indoor stadium for basketball players.
Further Pienyü appealed to the state government and department concerned to give importance to the sports discipline and sportspersons.
