DIMAPUR — As part of its practical papers, a seven-day intensive course for the final year LLB students of Kohima Law College (KLC) with the Kohima district executive force (DEF) got underway at the college auditorium on May 9.
Chairing the launch event, KLC teacher-in-charge and assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi, expressed gratitude to the Police department for providing a beneficial course to students. He exuded confidence that the students would learn better understanding on functioning of police department especially at the police station, traffic etc.
Through the programme, Savi stated that the students would acquaint themselves with case diaries, registration of cases, maintenance of PS records, verification of character and antecedent, general diary, visit crime scenes in the event of any crime report and other police stations related to law and order duties, stated an update from the college.
The additional director general of police (law and order), Sandeep Madhukar Tangage, who has master degree in law (LL.M) and also pursuing Ph.D in law, presented a topic on ‘Criminal justice system’ in detailed in a practical manner. He also interacted with the law students as to how police station function as well as traffic, women cell etc.
Meanwhile, the superintendent of police, Kohima, Bharat Laxman Markad, briefed on the concept of the seven-day course designed for the students.
Report stated that the college administrator, Limaakum Jamir, thanked the Police department particularly the two officers, for imparting important knowledge to the outgoing students and suggested for continuation of such programme in the near future.
Limaakum also exhorted the students to be disciplined and punctual during the entire course. He further stated that the programme would help them to a large extent as they join the legal practice within few months time.
It mentioned that 62 students would be divided into several smaller groups and assigned to visit various functionaries from May 9 to the 15 including Saturday and Sunday.
