Kohima, Dec. 14 (EMN): All activities at Naga Heritage Village in Kisama came to an end with the closing ceremony of the Hornbill festival, but unlike other years, imagi.LAND plans to keep the space active all year round.
The imagi.LAND, earlier known as Children’s Park, was inaugurated on Nov. 26 and is being managed by a Kohima-based management company, imagi.NATION.
Addressing a press conference at Kisama on Wednesday, the management team said they plan to keep the space “fully active” throughout the year. It is open for children (and parents) to play and is also open for events.
They also intend to install more infrastructure including amenities for children, a swimming pool, and construct tree houses.
During the Hornbill Festival, they hosted several music gigs, night concerts and housed food stalls.
While the space will be open for booking from Sunday to Tuesday, 10 am to 6 pm, they are willing to extend the timing on request.
The team said that they had earlier hosted events in rented venues and agencies, which were successful. However, the biggest challenge for them has been finding a space to hold events while giving it that ‘extra-level of authenticity’ they are looking for. Thus the idea of imagi.LAND -- a happy place for happy people -- came about, they said.
Besides, they also shared that finding the right sponsors and skilled manpower for big events in particular is still a challenge.
Their initial design for imagi.LAND was ‘very traditional’. But later, they changed their minds since Kisama is filled with ‘traditional touch all around’, they informed. They added that they want to keep the space ‘very exclusive’.
imagi.NATION, started in 2018, with a vision to bring people together through their passion for business and events, is led by a team of youngsters including Aoakum Walling, production manager; Kevithuto Koso, executive director; Elivino Seleyi, managing director; and Kako Yhoshu, operation manager of imagi.LAND. Currently, the company is employing ten people.
Speaking further on imagi.LAND, they shared that they saw what they could offer to the Kisama Children's Park, which had been lying barren for so many years due to a lack of maintenance and security. Accordingly, they submitted a proposal to the Tourism department, which was received well and appreciated. The department officials further extended help to complete all the necessary formalities to start the project by writing contracts and other legal letters and documents that were needed before starting construction work at the site.
The work for imagi.LAND took flight on October 5, which lasted 52 days until the Hornbill Festival. The team added that imagi.LAND is a ‘sanctuary to relax, rejuvenate and gather your thoughts’.
