A student exchange programme between students of Kohima (Nagaland) and Pune (Maharashtra) is being organized to be held in December 2014 and January 2015. About 25 students from Kohima, accompanied by a few of their teachers will visit Pune from December 13 to 21, while a similar number of students and teachers will visit Kohima in the next half of the tour. The aim of the tour is to give an exposure to the students of the diversity of India and to foster an understanding of each other’s traditions and culture. The Student Exchange Programme envisages students staying at each other’s homes to gain firsthand knowledge of local customs, cuisines and other facets of day-to-day life. The students would also be participating in wide range of activities including visits to Educational and Industrial institutions, adventure activities and would also be interacting with important dignitaries from all walks of life. The Exchange Programme will culminate in a grand camp-fire cum cultural programme.
The student exchange programme was conceptualized by the Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (North), Nagaland in partnership with the Aseem Foundation, a Pune-based Trust which has been involved in organizing such tours since 2005.
The schools participating in the first-ever such exchange programme between Nagaland and Maharashtra are Little Flower School and G. Rio School from Kohima and Jnana Prabodhini and Aksharnandan Schools from Pune.
“It is hoped that as an outcome of these reciprocal tours, these young boys and girls would form close bonds based on shared experiences, enabling them to become ‘Best Friends Forever’,” the organizers informed on Wednesday.
