Body builders from Manipur return home after competing in world championship

AMBBA team welcoming body builders from Manipur on their arrival in Imphal on Monday

IMPHAL — The All Manipur Body Builders’ Association (AMBBA) on Monday welcomed body builders Thingujam Ritesh Singh, Naorem Zenika and Solimla Jajo from the state, who competed in the 14th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2023 held in Wonju City, South Korea, from November 6 to the 12th.

Ritesh Singh won the bronze medal in the men's junior bodybuilding (up to 75 kg), while Narendra Yadav, also from India, bagged gold, and Truong Hoang Long of Vietnam won the silver medal.

Naorem Zenika secured fifth position in the women's junior model physique (21 years and under), while Shreyasi Mukherjee, also from India, claimed the third place. Mongolia's Enkhsaruul Oyunbadrakh won the contest and Thailand's Saijai Susomlaew took the second place in this categoty.

Solimla Jajo also secured fifth position in the women's one piece swimsuit at the event.

About 400 bodybuilders and physique sports persons from 48 countries took part in the weeklong competition, according to Yumlembam Sumanta, General Secretary of AMBBA.
