DIMAPUR — Various government departments can send the pension papers to the Auditor General (AG) six months before the employees retire so that the pension process can be initiated early and hand over the pension books to the employees on the day of their retirement, apprised Senior Deputy General Audit, Kahoto J. Yeptomi.
He was interacting with the public during the Audit Diwas organised by the Accountant General Office at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on Friday, informed an update from DIPR.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (AG) of India observes Audit Diwas across the country on November 16 every year, followed by an Audit Awareness Week.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Speaking at the event, Yeptomi also encouraged the departments to send the list of employees who will retire to the AG office every year so that the retirement process can be started according to the provisional list.
In his welcome speech, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, encouraged the pensioners to make use of the opportunity provided by the AG office and share their grievances during the Audit Diwas.
Principal Accountant General (A&E), Nagaland, A Pitoho Chophy, spoke about the significance of the occasion, apprising the gathering that the Audit Diwas is observed to celebrate the history and evolution of the organisation (AG) besides recognising its contribution to the governance of the country.
Chophy added that it also gives the AG an opportunity to reach out to the stakeholder as well as enhance the organisation’s relevance, accountability and transparency in public governance.
Personal copies of latest Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) and GPF Final payment were handed out to the pensioners during the Audit Diwas and the list uploaded on the office website, said the update, adding that various pavilions for pension, GPF, RoP, loan, pay slip, inspection report settlement etc. were set up for awareness and grievance redressal.
The AG also took up issues including settling outstanding Inspection Reports of Auditee units situated in Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Peren during the audit diwas programme chaired by Assistant Audit officer Renjano Ezung.
