DIMAPUR — The Indian Army sponsored a three-month Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) course for 22 women from Zakhama and nearby villages in Kohima district under its Sadbhavna initiative, themed ‘Empowered women, empowered society’.

The training programme was conducted from September 29 to December 29, 2023, at the Peri Montessori Teacher's Training Institute in Kohima, according to an update, which also mentioned that the course equipped the women with skills to nurture young minds as preschool teachers.

Key subjects covered during the training included instructional strategies, child psychology, classroom management and cognitive development. The trainees performed exceptionally well during the course, it said.

At a closing ceremony held at the Kenguruse Auditorium in Zakhama Military Station, the trainees, their families, teaching faculty, and student union representatives, who all attended the event, expressed gratitude to the Army for facilitating the skill development programme and contributing to women's empowerment.
