Kohima, Oct. 25 (EMN): All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has announced that it will hold its three-day 19th biennial general conference on the theme “Transcendence” from November 6 to the 8th at Zunheboto Government College.
Announcing this at its office on Friday, the organisers informed that the conference envisions bringing students together from various colleges to broaden the horizons- academically, socially and other aspects of life. They added that 25 delegates each from 41 colleges will converge in Zunheboto town, which is about 150 km away from Kohima, for the conference.
The organisers informed that Miss ANCSU 2019 contest will be held at the conference to provide platform for women to showcase their talents. The event will also witness debate competition on the topic “The impact of social media is hampering the younger generations” besides cultural extravaganza and other traditional games such as ‘tug-of-peace and pole climbing.’
Election of new office bearers for the tenure 2019-21 will also be conducted during the conference.
While informing that it will be the second time that the Zunheboto Government College will be hosting ANCSU’s conference after the union came into being about 40 years ago, the organisers have sought the cooperation of the district administration of Zunheboto and its citizens. They also expressed fear for the safety of the students coming to the conference because of ‘pathetic road condition’ and appealed to the concerned department to look into it.
The organisers informed that Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio will be the inaugural guest of the conference, while K T Sukhalu, advisor for School Education, will be the chief host and introductory guest; Kuzholuzo Nienu, NLA, will be the cultural guest; Mhonlumo Kikon, advisor for Science and Technology, NRE and IT will be the theme speaker; and Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along will grace the valedictory function.
