Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The government middle school of Alempang in Mokokchung town celebrated its golden jubilee recently. The programme was conducted with the theme “striving for greater heights,” updates informed earlier this week. Parliamentary Secretary S Chuba Longkumer attended the event as the chief guest. In his speech, the parliamentary secretary said that the theme of the celebration ‘can be achieved only through hard work, dedication and honesty.’ Education has become every child’s right, he said ‘but just by taking the slogan for granted, and being good in studies does not guarantee one of achieving greater heights in life.’ Maintaining that only the best are recognized in the world today, the parliamentary secretary said that for a student to be the best, they require quality education from quality teachers. He lamented that although Nagaland is considered one of the states with high literacy rate in the country, the Nagas are not moving ahead ‘as we actually should.’ Urging students and teachers, Chuba Longkumer encouraged them to ‘change their mindset for the best thing to come out.’ ‘It is only through quality education that malpractices can be eradicated thereby having a social transformation in our land,’ he said.
