DIPHU — The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in collaboration with the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), has set a Guinness World Record for the longest moving line of people walking on Kengdongdang (bamboo stilts), a traditional game of the Karbi tribe.
The event took place at Volongkom Aji (Bukulia), Karbi Anglong, along NH-29 on Sunday as part of the ongoing 50th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) celebrations.
The new record was achieved with a total of 721 participants walking on bamboo stilts for one minute without any intervention. Clad in Karbi traditional costumes, the walkers formed a line that spanned half a kilometre, and participants included both youth and older individuals.
The adjudicator from the Guinness Book of World Records, Rishi Nath, handed over the certificate of recognition and achievement to KAAC Chief Executive Member, Tuliram Ronghang, in the presence of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) president Chandrasing Kro.
Ronghang, after the declaration of the achievement, expressed appreciation for all the participants in setting the new world record. He highlighted that the previous record was 250 people.
