IMPHAL — Commercial establishments, including pharmacies at Thangal Bazaar, Paona Bazaar, MG Avenue and Khoyathong road in Imphal were shut on Monday in view of the 24-hour total shutdown called by the bazaar shop owner’s community to protest various problems taking place in the area.

The business community in the capital city of Manipur, which is hit by ethnic conflict, had stated in a press release that the shop owners in the commercial area had unanimously decided down the shutters in view of ‘various problems’ faced.

Meanwhile, a few small shops were seen open at Nagamapal area around the Khwairamband Keithel, the main market areas and three iconic Nupi Keithel (women’s market) on the day.
