Workshop on legal matters held for village and church leaders

Dimapur, Sep. 13 (EMN): Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) organised a one-day awareness seminar with GBs, DBs, village councils, and church workers at Helipong Village Council Hall on September 13.

The workshop was organised as per the monthly action plan of TDLSA, informed an update from the association.

Soteth Anar, panel lawyer TDLSA, spoke on basic procedures of law (Cr.PC/CPC procedure provided under Rule for Administration of Justice & Police Act) and highlighted the powers and functions of village council.

Kumdilong Kessen, judicial magistrate first class and secretary of TDLSA, spoke on various NALSA schemes and briefed on the “procedures for applying Victim’s Compensation Act, Relief and Rehabilitation for the victims of disaster and natural calamities and Arms Act.” He also urged the participants not to “keep unlicensed gun at home in order to avoid unnecessary trouble.”

Yimtsusangla Chang, project asst. TDLSA, spoke on “women and child’s right covering POCSO, Domestic Violence Act, Child Marriage Restraint Act, Child Labour, Free and Competent Legal Aid.”
