Dimapur, Feb. 19 (EMN): The Central Institute of Horticulture organised a training programme on mushroom production and value addition of horticultural crops for rural unemployed youths and farmers of Dimapur and Peren district on February 18 and the 19th at the Institute.

During the inaugural function, the trainees were giving a briefing about the various activities and functioning of the Institute by Prabin Das, marketing specialist of Central Institute of Horticulture, a press release that was received here on Wednesday stated.

Further, the participants were given hands-on training in processing various horticultural value-added products such as fruit squashes, pickles and ginger candies by Vinika K Aomi, a post-harvest technologist, the press release stated.

Resource Person SC Sahoo, deputy general manager of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), highlighted the ‘developmental prospects’ of the bank in Nagaland, the updates stated. He encouraged the trainees to take skill-oriented courses ‘for self sustenance and form FPO’s.’

The updates stated that hands-on training in mushroom production technology was also imparted to the trainees. Altogether 23 participants from different villages in Dimapur and Peren district attended the training programme, the press release stated.
