Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): With an aim to re-integrate women drug users in Mon into the society- mentally, spiritually and economically, the Konyak Union’s Committee on Drug Abuse, Mitigation and Prevention (CoDAMP) organised a counselling programme for them on March 12 under the name “Monghüm”, which means “Hope” in the Konyak dialect.

This was informed by DIPR through a press release on Friday. Group counselling was conducted for women drug users across Mon town at the programme themed “Women in Recovery”.

A total of 12 women attended the “intensive counselling session” which was held at Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) Conference hall, Mon and co-sponsored by Beti Bachao Beti Padhao District Task Force, the update informed. Rev. Dr. Ellen Konyak Jamir, associate professor of pastoral counselling and psychotherapy, Oriental Theological Seminary, Dimapur, was the resource person of the event.

The programme was conceptualised in line with the Konyak civil societies’ declaration of “War on Drugs”, which has become a community movement after being spearheaded by the CoDAMP that was appointed by Mon district apex civil organisations.
