Dimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Just a few days after requesting the Lotha Hoho to withdraw its PIL against the contractors of Wokha-Merapani road, the NSCN (IM) Lotha Region has now come down heavily on the firm for not responding to the Hoho’s initiatives and what it termed “positive invitations aimed at seeking the opportunity to foster mutual understanding and to extend necessary co-operations” in the ongoing road project.

In a letter addressed to Ravitosh Asthana & Party, M/s CS Infra Construction Pvt. Ltd., contractor of Wokha-Merapani road, the NSCN (IM) Lotha Region wrote that the Lotha Hoho was left with no option but to seek legal action against it to ensure that the important project doesn’t go to waste with poor workmanship.

“We are aware that, the same road is to be constructed with 5.5 metre carriageway, 8.85 metre of formation (29 feet), solder having 1.25 metre on hill side and 1. 50 metre on valley side with 0.6 metre for drainage including lay bys for emergency parking (sic),” read the letter.

It went on to say that the group was surprised to see the way the firm is undertaking the road constructions in hiding like a “ghost”, which has triggered speculations in the minds of the people regarding the fate of the road.

Stating that the said road is very important for the people of the district, it asked the firm to live up to the expectations of the people by constructing a good road.

“You are reminded again for necessary action to avail the help and co-operations of the Hoho and all concerned to avoid the laws taking its own course of action,” read the letter. “We have expectations that, your firm will respect the sentiments of the public and come forward without further delay to bring out a good and all-weather-road which is our sole aspiration and we assure once again our co-operations for success of this important project.”
