DIMAPUR — The School Integrated Programme (SIP), the first in Wokha district, was launched at Libemo Memorial School (LMS), Wokha, on May 22, marking a new initiative for science education and competitive examination preparation in the district.
Ajay Sethi, managing director of NITI Academy, Nagaland, delivered the keynote address and spoke on the importance of discipline, consistency, scientific temperament, and competitive preparedness among students, the school stated in an update.
He encouraged students to develop larger aspirations and utilise opportunities available within Nagaland itself to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, and other professional fields.
Sethi stressed the promotion of STEM education in Nagaland, stating that it stands at 14%, while the rest of India has progressed beyond 40%.
Special guest speaker Chandrakant Bharti, principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, emphasised the value of determination, academic focus, and the collective responsibility of educational institutions in shaping future generations.
Surojit Mitra, principal of Libemo Memorial School, in his welcome address, underscored the importance of collaborative educational efforts and highlighted LMS’s commitment to providing quality science education.

The event witnessed the participation of students, teachers, parents, dignitaries, and education stakeholders committed towards strengthening quality education in the region.
A key highlight of the programme was the distribution of Science and Mathematics books along with Daily Practice Papers (DPPs) to all science students by Merilo Kikon, director of LMS.
The initiative is expected to help students establish disciplined study habits and strengthen conceptual understanding, the update stated.
The event also marked the restart of the Science stream at Libemo Memorial School, a major development for Wokha district.
Under the SIP, students will now be guided by IIT alumni faculty members for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology (NIT), bringing quality mentoring and competitive examination-oriented preparation closer to students in the district.
According to the update, the entire Wokha district has only 20 Science students enrolled in Class XI this year, making the initiative significant in promoting science education and encouraging greater student participation in STEM fields.
“The launch of the first SIP in Wokha district is expected to pave the way for a stronger educational ecosystem and create opportunities for aspiring students to pursue excellence at a low cost without needing to move outside the state,” it added.
