What Impedes Nagaland Aspirants From Giving Various Central Examinations?

Competitive exams both online and offline are conducted round the year across India, be it Public or Private Sector applicants applying for the Jobs are never short of, with certain skill set, qualification requirement and experience, etc. Nagas in particular and North easterner vie with Mainlanders tooth and nail with/without the quota of STs, SCs and OBC against the General Candidates.

UPSC, NPSC and Various other State Departmental exams are the ones Naga aspirants compete for and apart from handful, there are very less aspirants for other central exams. Competitive exams like Staff Selection Commission  (SSC CGL,SSC CHSL,SSC CAPF ), banking  exams like State Bank of India(SBI PO,SBI Clerk), Institute of Banking personnel selection (IBPS PO,IBPS Clerk, IBPS RRB-Assistant & officer cadre) plus various technical and non-technical categories of exams under Indian Railways. Apart from these aforementioned exams, there are also exams conducted by RBI, LIC, NABARD, FCI and let’s not forget the exams notified and conducted by different government ministries such as MHA.

Though the list is longer, these are exams which are common graduate level (exception to some), SSC CHSL being 10+2 level exam, but the Nagas in general somehow avoid giving such exams even though the competition is stiff, tough and limited within the state considering the number of vacancies state government rolls out each year. Whereas some reasons for refraining from giving such exams are the syllabus per-se –which contains numerical aptitude and mathematical operations, reasoning and mental ability problems, it may also be due to lack of awareness of such exams existence. Non subscription of employment news may be one factor. Although there are websites to get access to such exam notifications, the present generation of educated unemployed are somehow ignorant and are not inspired enough to do research on different opportunities where they can apply. Another reason could be because of the fear of failing, the fear that they may not score up to their desired mark or pass always creates a very high degree of fear and anxiety amongst the aspirants.

The challenges faced by the aspirants nowadays is the numerical aptitude and reasoning section of the syllabus because many aspirants feel that these subjects are mathematics and needs to be solved within limited time due to online timer system. From both objective and subjective perspective on the matter, certain analysis based on experience and research is highlighted for public consumption. We cannot deny the fact that there isn’t enough (if any) counselling or guidance, seminars regarding the topic in discussion to facilitate the young minds nor are there enough advertisements in local dailies which commoners have access to. Thus, it becomes self-prerogative to keep updated round the year to keep pace with these exam notifications.

Regarding of the syllabus and time limitation, what aspirants need to understand is that every exam has certain requirement to fulfil or to go through. Hence proper guidance, study and practice are a must in all seriousness. Beating the time is not as tough as it looks. There is obviously a technique, a way and short cut methods which need to be learned and put to practice everyday. ”Do-able hence asked” is something the aspirants must believe in. If one has all the basics covered, learning the technique just makes it simpler and really doesn’t consume time to solve. Hence the basic of mathematics which aspirants already know must be fine-tuned from the LCM, HCF to BODMAS rule to simplification and all the topics studied at high school level from the base, then comes the short cuts and techniques (with almost no formula used). Sounds like a bold claim for sure, but that’s the trend and it is what makes the mainlanders excel in and qualify such exams.

Approaching exams with positivity and finding proper guidance becomes the key here. Rather than waiting for an inspiration, it is best to be the one to inspire.
