Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): A program to distribute “community assets” was conducted by the Kohima division of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, on June 18.

The government’s publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued to the media on Tuesday updates about the event.

The department distributed plastic chairs, barbed wires, solar lamps and eco-friendly waste bins as a part of the “community asset distribution,” the IPR stated.

During the program, the district forest officer for Kohima Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted the importance of the role of village communities in protecting forest and the environment.

According to the IPR, she urged the gathering to take responsibility of the assets that were distributed to them and to make full use of them for the benefit of the community.

The officer was stated to have appreciated the efforts of village functionaries, members of forest management committees and self-help groups for their effort in natural resource management.

The village’s functionaries thanked the department for raising environmental awareness in the region. The IPR added that they assured full cooperation to the department.
