Dimapur, Oct. 18 (EMN): Yugandhar Singh’s double century helped Nagaland defeat Manipur by an innings and 251 runs in the Vijay Merchant Boys U-16 Trophy three-day Test match at NCA Stadium, Sovima in Dimapur on Friday.

It was the second consecutive win for Nagaland in the tournament after defeating Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 321 runs last week.

An update by joint secretary of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) A Rahman informed that Manipur elected to bat first after winning the toss but was bundled out for just 83 runs (all out) in 35 overs in the first innings on Thursday. Khrievitso Kense took five wickets for Nagaland in the match.

Resuming on the second day of the match after scoring 278 runs for loss of five wickets, Nagaland was in the driver’s seat after Yugandhar Singh, who scored 104 runs (not out) on day one, increased his score to 241 runs on the second day to help the state put up a good total of 440 runs (all out) in 89.3 overs. Khrievitso Kense, who took five wickets in the first innings for Nagaland, once again took six wickets in the second innings to bowl out Manipur for just 106 runs in 62.4 overs. The batting line-up of the neighbouring state failed again as Kadamjit was the highest scorer for the team with 30 runs and Rohit with 23 runs.
