Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): Nagaland defeated Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 321 runs in the Vijay Merchant Boys U-16 Trophy match played on Saturday, the second day of the three-day game, at NCA Stadium, Sovima in Dimapur.

This was informed by Jt. secretary of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) A Rahman in a press release made available to the media on Saturday.

Resuming their first innings after scoring 415 runs (loss of seven wickets) on the first day with Yugandhar scoring a century (148 runs), Rohan – 70 runs (added one run on second day) and Yash – 63 runs, Nagaland managed to add only seven runs on Saturday but that was enough to drive them home comfortably.

Chasing a total of 422 runs, Arunachal Pradesh’s wickets fell like ninepins, scoring only 29 runs (all out) in 23.1 overs in the first innings. Made to play their second innings, Arunachal Pradesh once again succumbed to the pressure, scoring only 72 runs (all out) in 27.3 overs.

Leading Nagaland’s attack in the first innings were Rohan with six wickets, and one wicket each from Yash and Neizekho Rupreo.

In the second innings, Neizekho Rupreo tore through Arunachal Pradesh’s batting line-up by taking seven wickets (20 runs). He was assisted by Rohan who took three wickets.
