Dimapur, Feb. 7: A Dimapur-bound night Blue Hill passenger bus (AS-01KC-6253) from Tuensang collided with a loaded sand carrier truck (NL-06A-1299), heading towards the same direction, early Thursday morning at 4:40 am in Assam’s Khatkhati area, leaving two severely injured.

A source from the Assam traffic police in Khatkhati told Eastern Mirror that the Dimapur-bound bus was behind the truck but due to mechanical failure the truck rolled behind and collided with the bus leaving the handyman of the bus and a passenger injured.

“Due to a small gap between the bus and truck, there was not enough space for the bus to steer away in time, so the truck rolled back and hit the bus where two people seated inside the bus’ cabin were injured,” informed the source.

The police official further informed that the two injured were shifted to the Bokajan community healthcare centre after which the injured passenger was later shifted to Civil Hospital in Dimapur, and the handyman remained at the care centre.

The other passengers of the bus are informed to have boarded other Dimapur-bound buses that were also in the vicinity during the time of the accident.

Both drivers of the bus and the truck appeared before the officers at the Khatkhati police station where a case has been registered, it was informed.
