Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): Intensive training on pig farming under Livelihood Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) for matured SHG members was conducted from June 20 to 28 in Wokha town.
Modern and scientific breeding of pigs were taught for six days at Mass Educational Welfare Society (MEWS) training hall and a field/practical class was held at pig breeding centre, Wokha, on the 7th day of the training. Altogether, 68 SHG members from 14 SHG attended the training programme as first and second batch.
The resource persons were Dr. N Morothung Ezung (VAS), Dr. Zuchamo Tongoe (SRF), Benrithung Lotha (SVFA), Shongmao Khumungyan (VFA), progressive pig farmer Yantsomo Ezung and community resource person Khomesa Odyuo.
In an update, MEWS chairperson Lanchibemo Tsopoe stated that the training programme was fully sponsored by NABARD, Regional Office, Dimapur. He thanked NABARD for sponsoring the project, resource persons and trainees for their active participation for making the training a grand success. He also informed that the next two batches would be conducted in Meriyan village from July 2 onwards.
