Tongdentsuyong ward celebrates silver jubilee

Mokokchung, Dec. 5 (EMN): Minister for Housing and Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum, has advocated peaceful co-existence and understanding among the people in order to catch-up with the rest of the world both as a society and socio-economic development.

Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of Tongdentsuyong Ward in Mokokchung town as the special guest on Thursday, Ozukum said the peaceful co-existence in diverse society signify unity among the people. He lauded the residents of Tongdentsuyong ward for displaying the best qualities of hardworking and unity among the people since its inception. He urged the residents to continue upholding the spirit of unity and hard-working culture among the people.

Besides, Ozukum also acknowledged also appreciated the ward from producing many eminent leaders, bureaucrats and successful individuals who are serving the people in different fields. In this regard, he advised the students to follow the footsteps of elders with a strong determination to achieve their goals while pursuing their academic studies.

Ozukum also released the jubilee souvenir during the function.

The jubilee speaker and additional superintendent of police, Mokokchung, Imtimeren, has termed the unwillingness of the people to accept change as the main impediment towards ushering in change.

“We want only success but to taste the glory and seed of success we should also taste failure,” he asserted. In this connection, he said we should learn to humble ourselves and cultivate self-control and not eye to poke at others’ weakness if we want the society to be progressive.

“If you learned how to love ourselves, then only we can love our neighbours,” he advised the people.

President of Ao Senden, Chubawati Longchar, urged the elders of the wards to ensure that the knowledge and wisdom they have gained be imparted to the younger generation. To the youngsters, he said, “if you do not learn from your elders today, tomorrow you will fail.”

Deputy commissioner, Mokokchung, Imtiwabang also suggested the people of the ward take care of their environment. He stated that the government is prioritising cleanliness in both rural to urban areas.
