We’ve all heard the old saying, “Don’t be a follower, be a leader.” What does it take to be a true leader? Today’s generation have lost their way by being followers of dangerous trends. Subsequently, this generation is becoming complacent by not paying attention to what is relevant and important to the world. What do we have to do to cultivate or transform today’s generation into leaders. How aware are this generation of current local and world events? Are you prepared to assume a leadership role that brings about change? We are in great need of such leaders who want to embrace positive change.
1. Encourage Someone’s values:
Find ways to show appreciation for their individuality and let them be expressive, even if it seems a little silly. It will keep them around. Allow them to have input into the decision-making process when you can. They want to be heard and respected. They want to work with friends and have a little fun.
2. Teach them their Job:
No one is born with leadership Skills hence this is the most education oriented generation in history. If you want them to do well, tell them how to do it, give them the tools and resources to do it, but don’t forget to also share why. They need that.
3. Make their work valid:
Don’t just give orders, if you want them to do something, tell them why in a way that lets them know the importance of their task.
4. Always keep your Ego in your Pocket:
Experience has shown that an ego driven leader can create a dark cloud, resulting in creating animosity among teams. Smart leaders keep their ego in check and listen in.
5. Balance your self interest with the group interest:
Put the needs and good of the group before your own. Ask yourself if the decision that you are about to make will benefit the organisation and/or people or is it only serving your own greed and wants. This generation only thinks of themselves so they should think for a group interest.
6. Help to cultivate other leaders:
Leaders that have their ego in balance are secure in their position and hire the best people available and help others achieve success. They do not view others as threats to their own status or to their careers. They realise that the more successful everyone is the better the environment.
7. Be Humble:
Don’t let Success go to your head.Be quick to apologise for your mistakes a little humility will remind you that you’re human.
8. Create Future Leaders:
Let them applied what they have learned, let them explore their skills set them free teach them mentor them.
9. Plan activities to help people get to know each other:
Start thinking of ideas for uniting one another rather than focusing on own interest. Remember, if people don’t feel comfortable, they will not come to you. What will you talk about? How will you make sure everyone feels welcome? Make sure to unite all having one common Goal.
10. Set goals for your future generation:
Don’t just think for today and support young people for their tomorrow. Invest for futures don’t block the way of our future generation. Plant a seeds for your future the sooner you plant your seeds, the sooner you water them and care for them, the faster they will germinate, grow, and blossom into the beautiful trees you are looking for. And how your future generation will be in 10 to 15 years down the road will be shaped by the seeds that you plant today.
