Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Several civil society organisations from Peren town have once again asked the authorities to terminate the two Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel involved in the gun-firing incident at a busy marketplace in Peren town on the January 16.

While thanking the Police department and the state government for suspending the erring IRB personnel, the organisations have reiterated their demand to terminate the two from their services, stating that their actions “tantamount to attempt to murder”.

Stating that it’s not about Peren town or the district, they said ‘every right thinking people of Nagaland should condemn such dangerous behaviours and actions’ done by the two who are supposed to safeguard and protect the lives of the public.

‘These two erring IRB personnel are a danger to civilised society and to the public, and exemplary action should be taken on them by terminating their services,’ read the press release issued by the organisations on Monday.  ‘The 72 hours deadline given by us has expired but the department and the government have not met our demand which is to terminate the services of the two IRB personnel involved in the firing incident till now,’ it added.

The organisations have demanded the police department and state government to deliver justice at the earliest, warning that they might be forced ‘to go for further protest and agitations till their demand is met’.

The press release was issued jointly by Ward Chairman Union Peren Town, Peren Town Youth Org., Zeliangrong Mipui Org., Peren Town Women Welfare Org., and Peren Town Gaonbura Union.
