Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): Tata Football Academy (TFA) held an open selection trial for U-16 boys at the SAI ground in Dimapur on Sat Feb. 10. The trial was conducted under the supervision of Coach Akshay Das from the TFA at Jamshedpur.
The selection trial was conducted in coordination with Temjenkibang, a former national player who played in national league football and with various football clubs of India; and Coach Daniel Rongmei of Forerunner FC.
The TFA is a reputed academy in the country. TFA Supervisor and Coach Akshay Das spoke about holding trials across India looking for skilful and talented youths.
Das said that players were tested on their performance in match situations with different factors of speed, technical skills, attitude, tactical awareness, and physical ability and how players communicate.
Temjen, a former national player also asserted that young Naga football players can get exposure outside Nagaland if they are selected to undergo training at the TFA. ‘Our young talented footballers need proper training and proper facilities where they can get opportunity to expose their talent under the guidance of expert,’ he said.
Almost 80 footballers thronged the venue to attend the trial out of which only seven players could make it.
The selected players will go through the final trial round in April at Jamshedpur. They will be mentored by professionals besides being provided with a platform to play for the TFA.
Das said that the initiative provides an ideal ambience for promising footballers to develop their potential to the fullest. It was informed that the TFA not only provides intensive training programmes but opportunities for all-round development with facilities for formal education and vocational training too.
