In a bid to encourage people to stay at home with messages of hope through music, the Task Force For Music and Arts (Tafma) will live stream gigs on Instagram.

As the lockdown to prevent the outbreak of novel coronavirus continues across the country, Tafma’s live video show under the hashtag #TafmaStayHomeGig @TAFMA_NAGALAND will feature renowned artists in the state.

The live video show will start on April 4 till the 14th from 7:00 pm onwards every night.

Each artist will go live approximately about 30 minutes while performing and interacting with viewers and music lovers for 11 nights.

The line-up includes Mengu Suokhrie, Neise Meruno, Kekhrie Rings, Atsa Lang Roths, Metet Jamir, Sunep Lemtur, Thunglamo Ngullie, Tali Ang, Tetseo Sisters, Imliakum Aier and Alobo Naga.

Advisor of Tafma, Theja Meru while speaking to Eastern Mirror on Thursday said with the pandemic gripping fear everywhere, “definitely people are not going through the best of times”.

At such a critical juncture, he maintained that Tafma have come up with the idea of pitching in the “music community to engage the society with the message of hope” while calling upon people to “stay safe and “stay home” by using the platform of the digital media.

“I think musicians have lots of followers on social media and also have big roles,” Meru said.

Reasoning that Nagas love music, he said Tafma decided to use the medium of music to interact with the society in a specific bid and have chosen some artists.

Another reason for Tafma taking its activities to social media is to give support to some of those artists who have already picked up music as a full-time occupation by extending some financial aid to them while engaging them with the audience on social media.

“Financially, musicians like anyone else are also going through a difficult times due to cancellation of shows, weddings, tour programmes and travels”, the advisor said and while adding that “some concern have come up” subsequently.

Meru expressed optimism that the live gig would be positive, responsive and encouraging while expressing confidence that the singers would make an impact on the society, their friends and family with positive notes.
