State legal services commemorates I-Day

Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): The District legal services authority (DLSA) across 11 districts commemorated the 72nd Independence Day celebration by imparting legal awareness in English and local dialect to visitors at the ceremonial venue and town square on August 15.
The authority in a press release stated that district and session judges also the chairpersons and chief judicial magistrates also the secretaries of the district legal services authority along with panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers explained the various acts and provisions to the VIPs and public visiting the stall and also distributed free legal literatures for awareness.

The release stated that around 7,566 people visited the legal stall across the 11 districts. Mon recorded 800 people, Tuensang 1000 people, Dimapur 600 people, Mokokchung 1000 people, Kohima 700 people, Wokha 400 people, Peren 700 people, Zunheboto 650 people, Kiphire 716 people, Phek 600 people, and Longleng 400 people.

Dimapur district legal services authority (DDLSA) led by the principal district and sessions judge and DDLSA chairperson visited the Central Jail, Dimapur, and another team led by the chief judicial magistrate and DDLSA secretary visited the district jail to impart legal awareness to the inmates and jail staff.

The Kohima district legal services authority (KDLSA) had set up five legal stalls in strategic locations across Kohima- Chandmari colony, Paramedical colony, Tinpati colony, Kohima College, and Lerie colony.

Mokokchung district legal services authority (MDLSA) and Peren district legal services authority (PDLSA) also set up legal stalls at the town square.
