Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): The Khonoma Rüffüno, Nagaland (KRN) will be organising a sports meet among its members from August 22 to the 24th at Keziekie in Khonoma village, to mark its 75 years anniversary.
A press release from the KRN on Thursday informed that six units, namely Khonoma, Kohima, Dzülekie, Zubza, Medziphema and Dimapur will participate in volleyball (women), football (men) and half-marathon (men, women and senior citizens) as the main events.
The inaugural ceremony will be graced by the bureaucrat Rovilato Mor as the guest of honour where he will launch a traditional Rüffüno Shükute (waistcoat) for men. Kevinourheno Seyie will also launch traditional shirts for both men and women during the event.
The arm-wrestling event will be held at Government High School, Khonoma from 5 pm on August 23, it informed.
The half-marathon covering 21.98 km will be conducted on August 24 on the theme ‘Reserve, Conserve and Preserve’. The KMC administrator Kovi Meyase will flag it off at 8.30 am from Indoor Stadium, near Red Cross Complex in Kohima, and culminate at Terhotsiese, Khonoma.
In the senior citizens category, participants should be 60 years and above while the stipulated distance will be
5 km.
Although the events are exclusively for people of Khonoma origin, the organisers have invited all well-wishers to witness the events together in celebration.
