Small traders in Dimapur heave sigh of relief as vegetables prices regain ground
Our Reporter
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): Days after traders, especially vendors who were selling perishable items, complained of being forced to sell their produce at a throw-away price due to lack of customers caused by the novel coronavirus outbreak, the prices of such commodities have almost returned to normal, much to the relief of small traders in Dimapur, Nagaland.
However, traders said that the number of customers has decreased over the past two days.
A vegetable vendor at Supermarket said that the scene was just like normal days, but short of customers. He said that the price of vegetables in the market would not soar up, as there was enough stock of essential items and that people should not panic-buy goods.
However, he acknowledged that he would have to sell his items at a much lower price if lack of customers continues, even to the point of closing down temporarily.
Another vegetable seller, also in Supermarket, said that despite low turn up of customers in the market, there was no reason to see price of essential items soaring high. He added that the public need not worry over the availability of items as there is normal flow of supplies to the state.
There is no change in prices of essential items in New Market too. A vegetable vendor assured that there was enough stock of essential goods, and so prices might not change.
