Six teams in fray for Kohima Football League

Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): The 3rd edition of the Kohima Football League organised by the Kohima Town Club is all set to begin from June 8 till the 26th at the IG Stadium in Kohima.

Six teams, namely defending champions Sechü Zubza FC, Vanguard FC, Tseminyu, Khriekesa FC, Forerunner FC Thizama along with two new teams A.Yhome FC and Kohima Eagles FC are in fray.

The league will be played on single league basis where each team will get five matches totalling 30 matches for the tournament. According to an update received here on Monday, a meeting was held at Aurora Restaurant along with the club’s representative on Monday evening.

The prize money has been enhanced to INR 1,20,000 for the champions  along with running trophy and citations while the runners-up will receive INR 80,000. The club informed that the launching of the clubs jersey will be held at the IG Stadium in Kohima on June 1 at 3:30 pm.

The press release also stated that the Kohima Town Club will be organising the first Open Penalty shootout tournament on June 22 at the IG Stadium in Kohima.

The champions will walk home with a cash prize of INR 50,000 while the runners-up will receive INR 30,000 along with trophy and citations and the individual award for best goalkeeper.

The entry fee is fixed at INR 2000 per team and the forms will be made available in the second week of June at Sports Paradise, Ruluo Market, Kezieke and Global Sports, Dr K.K Angami Complex, above Black Berry Kohima.
