Sechü Zubza FC beat New Market FC to go top

Kohima, July 26 (EMN): Two goals in the second half from Shurhosul Zhotso and Petevizo Kezieo helped Sechü Zubza beat New Market FC 2-1 and go on top of the ongoing Kohima football league table. With the win, Sechü Zubza has seven points (two wins and a draw) and New Market with three points (two losses and a win) in three matches.

Playing the second edition of the Kohima football league, New Market were paid for their defensive errors in the second half as Sechü Zubza came from behind to beat them in a thrilling encounter here at the Kohima local ground on Thursday.

New Market team dominated the first half but were paid for their lack of finishing as the team wasted on numerous occasions to find the net.

Rhetso Mero came close to score for New Market but his shot was parried away by the opponent goalkeeper Rajusetuo Nagi in the 12th minute. Neiphivilie Seyie shot was inches away to give New Market the lead in 18th minute.

New Market did take the deserving lead through Achamo Shitio from a deflection to score the first goal in 24th minute.

The best chance for New Market came through Neikhotso Nagi of Sechu but lack of composure from his end shot the ball wide of the target as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of New Market FC.

But Sechü Zubza continued to push in the second half for an equalizer as New Market defended the score. Their tirelessness effort was rewarded with a goal in the 81st minute as Sechü Zubza got the equaliser from a stunning header through Shurhosul Zhotso.

The rejuvenated side, looking for the winning goal, got their chance again through Zhotso as his long range kick was deflected by New Market goalkeeper Koza but Petevizo Kezieo rushed in time to tap-in in the 86th minute to take the lead for SechüZubza.

New Market failed to regain the momentum as Sechü Zubza defended the remaining minutes to win the match at the end of the final whistle.
