Dimapur, May 18 (EMN): Government Polytechnic Kohima, in collaboration with the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, GOI, New Delhi, organised a science and technology awareness exhibition at Government Polytechnic Kohima and Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, on May 15 and 17 respectively.
The programme was organised to make the public aware about the benefits and the role that science and technology played in everyday lives. It was also aimed at providing platform to the students to explore their creative talents and to develop their interest in science and technology.
Various activities such as science exhibition, essay writing, quiz, debate and poster-making competitions were organised during the programme.
Besides various competitions, science and technology communication through puppetry, science behind miracles and food adulteration were exhibited by the resources persons namely SM Faizani, Anas Farooqui and Adhiti Sinha respectively.
Altogether 120 participants from different schools in Kohima and 130 participants from various schools under Wokha district participated in the awareness exhibition.
Er. Keyiekhru Rhutso, principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima, and Y Vungthungo, senior principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha, graced the inaugural functions. Er. Keyiekhru Rhutso and Mhabemo Odyuo, senior graduate teacher of GHSS Wokha, gave away the prizes during closing functions.
