Dimapur, Aug. 24 (EMN):
Kohima Science College at Jotsoma in Kohima district welcomed new students into the institution during the 58th “fresher’s social” of the college. The programme was conducted on August 23 in the college’s auditorium, a press release on Saturday from the Kohima Science College Students’ Union stated.

Kelhouseto Nakhro, deputy secretary of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) attended the occasion as its special guest, the updates stated.

The formal session began with a musical performance by students.

In his address at the event, Kelhouseto Nakhro was stated to have acknowledged the college for its ‘good environment for studies.’ He said that the campus offers a good avenue for aspiring research scholars in the field of life science.

According to the press release, he said about 3500 vacancies are produced every year in Nagaland owing to retirement or death of the employee. “He urged the students to be humble and aim even for grade-four jobs in various departments. Stressing on competitive exams and its approaches, Mr Nakhro an interviewer for NPSC exam, gave tips on how to prepare and present themselves for various exams and interviews,” the union stated.

On the issue of land encroachment, he advised the students’ community not to ‘rush with action’ and asserted that the government was trying its best to resolve the issue.

During the programme, Tekhe Kapfo, a BSc student, and Unice Phucho, also a BSc student, were crowned Mr Fresher and Ms Fresher for 2019 from among the students, the press release stated.
