Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): A child enrolment helpline has been started in the directorate of School Education for complaints to be lodged through WhatsApp. Citizens are asked to communicate to the department using WhatsApp or text messages.

The directorate of School Education stated that the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 (RTE Act) clearly mentions that free and compulsory education should be provided to children in the age group 6-14 years.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates to the media on Tuesday informing about the contents of the notice.

In this regard, the child enrolment helpline has been started for complaints to be lodged through this number on WhatsApp 60092 56788, the updates stated. Citizen may communicate to the department using WhatsApp or text message only with the following details: Name and age of child requiring schooling; name and address of the local guardian/parent; contact number of local guardian/parent, if available; and the name of the nearest government school in the locality.

“Efforts will be made to send the child to the nearest school in the locality in coordination with the SDEO/DEO concerned. It is also to note that the details of the informers/well wishers will be kept absolutely confidential,” the IPR stated.

“Bogus information will, however, be dealt with sternly since it is tantamount to tarnishing the image of an innocent citizen. All the concerned citizens of Nagaland have been requested to kindly come forward to ensure that not a single child is denied school education in the state.”
