Rhythm of Love: In conversation with Dibya Ranjan

Meet Dibya Ranjan, a native of Odhisa but born and brought up in Nagaland.

Dibya Ranjan commonly known as Randiv is a talented upcoming freelance music producer and a mixing engineer whose love for music grew from a very young age.

The artist says, in Nagaland he found how broad a human’s mind can be and that as long as one is a good human being and a helpful person, Nagaland will always treat him/her like one’s home.

 His recently launched a YouTube channel called Randiv Choudhury, it is a project channel aimed to help gather people together and make covers of popular songs over the radio station for years.

Randiv has much to share about his musical journey and his life in Nagaland.

Eastern Mirror: A short intro about yourself to those who haven’t heard of you yet.

Dibya Ranjan: Well hi, this is Dibya Ranjan (Randiv) I am currently a freelancing music producer and mixing engineer and a vocalist who works from home for myself and for other artists too.

Hobbies: Painting , Playing a lot of video games, discovering things I haven’t come across yet.

About your career: About my career I have performed gigs with bands over Dimapur, Golaghat and at 2016 Karbi youth festival and have been producing tracks since three years now

Skills: Painting, playing acoustic rhythm Guitar, designing sounds, making hip hop trap kind of beats

Eastern Mirror: Share with us how your connection with music started.

Dibya Ranjan: Well connecting with music does not necessarily need to be achieved at certain age.. It was since my childhood.. I don’t actually remember how I started singing and at what age … Yes I started taking it seriously during my college days, way back in 2013. Since then, it was a never look back passion and I kept moving forward learning new things every single day. And since recently I am trying to step out a little bit more into music and compose tracks that the recent genres of music are asking for.

Eastern Mirror: Your influences.

Dibya Ranjan: Every big name, every artist has an influence on me, those who have made it big with his/her own will power and dedication. It’s just not one for me, the legends can’t be compared. I get inspiration from anything I hear over internet or web or television..anything that is different inspires me. (Like if I come across a producer and his/her track and I find something unique in the track,… I find ways to get the instrument that he/she used to build that sound for the music)

Eastern Mirror: Being born and brought up in a place like Nagaland with music lovers everywhere, how do you connect yourself with the scenario and the profession you are planning to take along?

Dibya Ranjan: Being born in a place like Dimapur with a lot of music lovers around it’s nice to see people coming forward and taking music not just as an option but as a profession  and a future too…  For me, my carrier since the time I started to now has been a phase of learning new things every day..  And the field I have chosen for me being a producer and mixing engineer, I think it’s still evolving and will soon take over people like any other branch of engineering..

Eastern Mirror: If given a chance to perform with a musician from the state, who would you choose and why?

Dibya Ranjan:  No doubt we have a lot of talented bands and artists in Nagaland but the only name we have been hearing since childhood is Alobo Naga and Mhathung Odyuo (purple fusion bassist), so they would be at the top for sure.

Eastern Mirror: You’re from Odhisa but settled in Nagaland. What do you feel is the best thing about Nagaland?

Dibya Ranjan: The best thing I found here was how broad a human’s mindset can be. Not discriminating someone prior to how they look or what tribe they are..I personally feel that as long as you are a good human a helpful person to people around you, there is nothing more to be adapted here.

Eastern Mirror: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Dibya Ranjan: 10 years from now I see myself as a unique artiste with a different taste of composing songs and music in my own way or may be struggling and starving for something more advanced.

Eastern Mirror: Tell us about your recently launched YouTube Channel ‘Randiv Choudhary’

Dibya Ranjan: The channel Randiv Choudhury is a project channel for me to gather people together and make some really good covers for popular songs over the radio station for years. Retro and current genre Bollywood music covers.

Eastern Mirror: What kind of genre do you mostly focus on while composing?

Dibya Ranjan: The genres would be Bollywood  and future modern pop genres.

Eastern Mirror: Any upcoming event that you want your fans to keep a track on?

Dibya Ranjan: Later this month I am planning to drop a remake of an old Bollywood hit with an acoustic feel to it followed by a few more of them later this year.
