90’s Charisma is an all girl band formed in the year 2016. The significance behind the name “90’s Charisma” is sketched by the idea that all three were born in the 90’s and “Charisma” indicates their fun loving nature as friends.

The band comprises of three vocalists, Khrielasanuo Linyü, Chubamenla Imsong and Thejangunuo Tehrüja. Their journey started during high school and music continues to keep their friendship strong. Rhythm of Love catches up with the Charismatic trio as they share their journey into the music world.

EASTERN MIRROR: How did the three of you come together and how long have you been performing?

90’S CHARISMA:  We were classmates since high school in DBS Kohima. We first performed in the year 2013 for the school music album.

EASTERN MIRROR: What’s with the name of your group “90’s Charisma”.

90’S CHARISMA:  “90’s charisma” has been brought up by the fact that the three of us were born in the 90’s and charisma has to do with the personalities we inherit.

EASTERN MIRROR: How would you describe your music to people who have not heard you before? What does your act consist of?

90’S CHARISMA:  Through our music we wish to show a pathway to the people not to give up on their dreams or what they love doing, but to keep them alive. We don’t have a specific genre but the first original was done in a bluesy population kinda way.

EASTERN MIRROR: What is your songwriting process?  What are the contributions that each of you make for the band?

90’S CHARISMA:  Our songwriting is usually done by our keyboardist Thejangunuo, and then the three of us work together and improvise it.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your single “start all over”.

90’S CHARISMA:  Many people thought that “Start all over” was a love song but first of all it is not a love song. It’s about reviving from a hurtful experience and letting go off the past.

EASTERN MIRROR: Working as a group is not easy especially when each individual has different ideas and taste. How do you work it out? Any issues you have faced initially?

90’S CHARISMA:  We’ve had our share of struggles as a group but it’s our tight bond that never creates any sort of animosity among us.

EASTERN MIRROR: What’s next for 90’s Charisma?

90’S CHARISMA:  We’re not planning on a new song very soon as we are all separated for college. But we wish to continue performing together because it is also through ‘MUSIC’ that the three of us are kept connected and it makes our friendship stronger too.
