Programme on girl child, women empowerment held in Wokha

Dimapur, Nov. 27 (EMN): The Wokha district administration in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho (Lotha women’s organisation) and social welfare department organised a sensitisation programme on ‘girl child on education’ and also conducted a seminar on the topic of ‘women empowerment through employment opportunities at Yanthamo village community Hall under Wokha district on Nov. 27. The programme was organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.

A DIPR updated stated that the EAC Wokha, Tumben P. Tsanglao, while speaking at the seminar, said that the success of any schemes, policies or programmes depends on the active support and participation of the people. He said that the government of India, with an objective to promote, educate and save the girl child under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, has introduced many programmes to facilitate the girl child. Therefore, he called upon every right-thinking citizen to extend support for the success of the programme.

Tsanglao also informed that a seminar will be held on Nov. 29 at Town Hall which will be organised in collaboration with the  Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Skill India, national Skill Development Corporation and PMKVY as training partners. There will be consultancies for availing training and placements on hospitality, aviation, food catering, beautician, make-up artists and stylists.

Saying that Nov. 29 seminar is being organised especially for girl child from the age group of 14-25 years who have a minimum qualification of standard VIII or XII pass, and even those school dropout, Tsanglao asked the parents to encourage their children to take part in such programmes which the government is initiating to provide a platform for the girl child.

Meanwhile, during the function, sanitary pack/kit and nutrition

During the function sanitary pack/kit and nutritional supplements were distributed by the district administration and the social welfare department. Short speeches were also delivered by the president of Lotha Eloe Hoho, Zuchobeni Ezong and Sr. Supervisor, CDPOI Office Wokha, Erenbeni.
