Preparation underway to Mimkut mini hornbill festival

Dimapur, Jan. 13 (EMN): Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN), Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) and Kuki Nute Kiloikhom (KNK) is all set to organise the 8th state level Mimkut mini hornbill festival 2019 in Ahthibung town under Peren district from January 15 to 17.

A press release from KIN and KSON media cell stated that Mimkut Festival is a post harvest festival, a major ancestral festival of the Kuki community of Nagaland observed to perform rites and rituals for bountiful harvest.

State deputy chief minister Y Patton; advisor of tourism and art and culture H Khehovi Yepthomi, advisor of water resources Namri Nchang, advisor of youth resources and sports Er. Zale Neikha, and IRSSE deputy manager Kailen Singson would be the special guests of the three-day festival.

The three-day long festival would witness the statue unveiling of Lengjang Kuki – signatory of Simon Commission 1929, memorial park, inauguration of Mimkut monolith, oldies nite, musical extravaganza, various cultural dances, exhibition stalls, indigenous trap display, indigenous games, Miss Mimkut 2019 etc.

Apart from the Kuki community of Nagaland, Angami, Sumi and Zeliang cultural troupes would also present cultural dances during the festival. KSON media cell press release also stated that the programme would witness unity dance of 17 tribes by YSU Phaipijang, YSU Chumukedima and YSU Dimapur.

The 8th state level Mimkut mini hornbill festival 2019 is being organised on the theme ‘Unity & Fraternity.’
