Dimapur, Dec. 12 (EMN): Rejecting the allegations of ‘misappropriation of fund and poor implementation of rural schemes’ levelled by the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC), the state’s Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) on Thursday issued a series of clarifications.

According to the department, the scheme for providing water supply to 24 villages, under Chiephobozou RD Block in Kohima district, was not inaugurated “due to certain technicalities” although a programme had been fixed.

“Out of the 24 habitations/villages, 10 are connected from the main water source while the remaining 14 have independent water sources, out of which works in 9 habitations have been completed so far. The department has initiated to obtain fund to complete the remaining works for the rural projects,” it stated.

Also, the project for providing water supply to Mitelephe village in Kohima district was sanctioned with an estimated cost of INR 50 lakh, it stated. The NPYC had claimed that the “total cost of the project is said to be INR 144 crore.”
