Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): The Nagaland Peace Centre (NPC) has called for peace among the Sumi and Zeliang communities in Peren district following a spate of violence stated to have stemmed from land dispute.

The NPC issued a press release to the media on Tuesday. The centre expressed shock from learning about the conflict between the two tribes on September 6 in Peren district.

According to the press release,“6th September is remarkable day for the Nagas as it is a day for peace. It was on this day an agreement for cease fire was signed between the government of India and FGN, ceasing the hostilities and embracing peace.”

“As such the NPC condemned the firing that occurred on the 6th September and is of the strong view that no good would come by hatred and enmity. The NPC, therefore, urge the conflicting parties to embrace peace and forgiveness and settle the issue amicably.”

“It further urges the Nagas in general that violence would only beget violence but we love and pray for our enemies, the summit of love is achieved,” it added.
