Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): The deputy chief minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, on Tuesday donated protective gear comprising 7000 face masks and 1400 hand sanitisers each to the department of Health and Family Welfare and to the Police Headquarters at his official residence in Kohima.
Patton, who is also in charge of Home and Roads & Bridges (R&B) department, appreciated the security forces and health workers for their tireless effort and sacrifices to the citizens of the state during the brief distribution programme organised to hand over the protective gear. He lauded the departments for role in combating the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
He reiterated his appeal to the citizens to co-operate with the government for successful implementation of the lockdown and urged them to maintain social distancing and adhere to various advisories issued by the state government and the department of Health and Family Welfare from time to time.
The principal director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vizolie Z Suokhrie, and Nagaland DGP John Longkumer thanked Patton for his humanitarian gesture and giving special attention to the frontline workers.
Health minister Pangnyu Phom, PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi, Higher and Technical Education minister Temjen Imna Along, Soil and Water Conservation minister Kashiho Sangtam, advisors to various departments, Home Commissioner, special secretary (Home) ADG law and order, secretary and other officials from Health and Family Welfare and Home department were present during the distribution programme.
