Paiwang Konyak launches improved web portal of Mon district

Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN):Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways and Land Resources, P Paiwang Konyak, launched the newly improved web portal of Mon district on Thursday.

The web portal is based on Secure, Scalable, and Sugamya Website as a Service (S3WaaS) framework.

An update from the DIPR informed that the website has been developed on S3WaaS by Mon district informatics officer (DIO) of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ravi Ranjan Kumar, under the guidance of S3WaaS Team NIC Head Quarters, New Delhi. The website can be accessed viz  https://mon.nic.in .

While launching the website, Konyak expressed his appreciation to the DIO for developing the district website which will make Mon district accessible to different parts of the country and the world. “Even the tourist can access and get the information before hand while visiting the district,” he said.

Emphasising on the network connectivity problems in the district, Konyak informed that he had proposed for setting up of satellite based internet connectivity mechanism to the central government during his last tenure as minister for Information Technology; as in a hilly terrain, the optical fibre based internet connectivity does not work properly.

Stating that many officers posted at far places like Mon, he urged upon all the government servants posted at such places to work sincerely and to take it as an opportunity to work for the uplift of the people, as they are appointed by the government to serve the people.

In his power point presentation, the DIO informed that the revamped website provides enhanced user-friendly functionalities and interfaces. It has responsive design and can be accessed through any internet ready device and is in compliance with “Guidelines for Indian Government Websites” standard web site norms and robust security standards. The website can now be accessed by visually impaired persons by using the aural software, which is easily installable on any system. Special feature has been added for colour blind users; they can change the contrast of website for easy access.

The DIO further informed that many new features have been incorporated in the new version which includes information about deputy commissioner’s office, subscriber trunk dialling codes, PIN codes and telephone directory, Tourism information, schemes, documents, helpline no., link of important offices etc.

The launching program was presided over by deputy commissioner Mon, which was attended by all administrative officers, heads of district departments, and other staff members of National Informatics Centre, Mon.
