PAC-19 team donates hand sanitiser to frontline workers

Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): In its effort to assist those working on the frontline, combating the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on April 8, under the banner of ‘Patkai Against Covid-19 (PAC-19)’, distributed around 80 litres of hand sanitisers to various organisations and departments in Dimapur district.

With the objective of reaching out to all stakeholders on the frontline, PAC-19 team distributed the hand sanitisers to the office EAC Chümoukedima, Chümoukedima Town Council, Chümoukedima community health centre, IR Bn Mahila, Chümoukidema police station, Diphupar police station, office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Municipal Council, office of the Commissioner of Police, media houses, financial institutions, Holy Redeemer and HK hospital, police personnel on duty at Khermahal junction, Bata Charali, 7th Mile junction and end at Nagaland check gate.

Earlier, 1st NAP, NAPTC, PTS had also received sanitizers from the college campus, an update from the college stated.

The project to prepare sanitisers started with a donation drive carried in the campus among the faculty and staff of the college. In the first batch, the college prepared around 4.5 litres for the campus residents and subsequently decided to extend its community service to the frontline workers fighting against Covid-19.

Speaking on PAC-19 project, the college vice principal Angel Sonari said, “We’ve been thinking what Patkai as a community could do to help the people of the state and decided to prepare the sanitisers as the college has a well-equipped laboratory to prepare the same.”

All other requisites material as per WHO guidelines were available but our biggest challenge was sourcing ethanol, Sonari stated.

In the second batch, the college collaborated with Dew Drop, a packaged drinking water company, and prepared 31 litres which was handed over to the office of the chief medical officer, Dimapur.

For the third batch, Sonari has acknowledged the state chief secretary, through whose effort, the college could manage to get around 100 litres of ethanol from Kohima Science College (Autonomous).

While pointing that getting Ethanol is the biggest problem right now, she stated that the college is equipped to prepare more hand sanitiser for the state with support from the government. She added that the hand sanitiser are prepared in accordance with WHO guidelines.
