Organisations appreciate GoI, NPGs

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Public Action Committee (PAC- NCD) has appreciated the Government of India and the eight Naga political groups (NPGs) for coming to a consensus for a political settlement.

“Now that the resolution for the settlement has been arrived at, the public should be free from all kinds of taxations. The citizens of Dimapur in particular and Nagaland in general has long suffered immeasurably due to the unabated and multiple taxation,” PAC convenor Vekhosayi Nyekha and co-convenor Ghokheto Chophy said in a joint statement.

PAC requested the NPG leaders to order their own rank and file to  immediately stop collection of taxes respecting the wishes of the people. It also requested the law enforcing authority to be vigilant and take timely action with  stringent measures to maintain tranquillity and peace.

PAC further affirmed continuing to be the watchdog for the public so that the future generation will not be chained under the shackles of illegal taxations.

In a separate statement, the Nagaland GBs Federation (NGBF) expressed joy and satisfaction over the Naga political talk which has reached an agreement points between GOI and Naga negotiating groups.

The federation thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the concern and efforts initiated to bring the Nagas peace talk to a conclusion. It also thanked the governor and interlocutor RN Ravi for his determination and conviction to solve the Naga issue.

The federation also congratulated all the negotiating parties headed by Kitovi Zhimomi of 7 NNPGs and Thuingaleng Muivah of NSCN (IM) for their sacrifices.
